Krinkels Industrial Biochar Carbon Removal

Krinkels is one of the leading green space management companies in North-Western Europe. Since the summer of 2022, BioFlux has been contracted by Krinkels Belgium to assess the feasibility and lead the development of their biochar production ambitions.

Following the preparatory works for this large-scale project, both parties are finalising the investment proposals to be presented to Krinkels’ board of directors.

Work already delivered by BioFlux:

• Assessment of Krinkels Belgium’s waste streams (quantities, seasonal availability, value, etc.);
• Conduct laboratory analysis of biomass and the resulting biochar;
• Mapping of the internal operational costs;
• Selection of most appropriate pyrolysis technology supplier;
• Identification of the most adequate project site;
• In-depth client prospection for biochar off-take and energy purchasing;
• Development of project business case.

Work to be delivered by BioFlux:

• Finalisation of investment report;
• Signing of LOI’s with biochar and energy prospects;
• Site development;
• Technology purchasing and commissioning;

Once operational, the project will produce 2.100 tons of biochar and 18.9 GWh/year of thermal energy, the project is also expected to generate approximately 5.145 tons of CO2eq in carbon credits.
