An impact-driven team

Having met in 2015, the BioFlux founding team became friends sharing a passion for climate justice, sustainable innovations and a love for spontaneous adventures. 

Though at first they followed their own paths, with Julian working on rural sustainable development projects and Paul working with urban sustainability and innovation initiatives. Shortly after, they quickly re-joined forces. 

Driven by a deep desire to take action and dive into the world of biochar, they joined the Brussels-based StartLab incubator in 2021. Following many educational months meeting with various industry experts, farmers, certification bodies and biochar producers, the team participated in the European Commission funded INTERREG Three-C ‘Creating the Circular Carbon Economy’ project. In 2022, the team began working with future biochar producers in setting up their production facility and certifying biochar for their desired applications.

BioFlux has since grown to support a range of biochar producers and climate-conscious companies in achieving their biochar ambitions. Driven by a motivation to have a bigger impact, the team has started to set up projects with small-holder farmers, with the support of their partners.
