Working with our partners at Valorize Systems, we separated emission reductions from carbon removals and quantified both impacts generated by the project. Our framework defined which activity data can realistically be collected at the farm level, how these translate into emission factors, and how durability-adjusted removals should be accounted for in an internal insetting ledger.
All calculations align with SBTi, IC-VCM, and FLAG sector expectations. ETG gained a clear picture of the climate value-scale and how to structure claims credibly across a dispersed smallholder base.
We assessed monetisation pathways from internally captured value to externally recognised climate benefits, mapping each against its credibility, integrity requirements and long-term viability. The analysis showed which avenues offer meaningful financial or strategic upside, which depend on stronger data and MRV systems, and which wouldn’t withstand buyer scrutiny. This clarified what makes an opportunity bankable, including durability considerations, traceability, additionality, and the verification level buyers expect.
The business case combined quantitative climate impact with monetisation pathways in a single framework that ETG can use to engage insetting partners. We showed the expected financial profile under various scenarios, including investment requirements, break-even timing, how climate benefits accrue, and what strategic value partners gain from supporting an intervention in their supply chain. ETG can now approach insetting partners with a transparent, decision-ready narrative.
